The 5 Step Formula To Achieve Anything You Want!
Happy New Year!
Are you ready to start it off right? Well, I’ve
got a simple 5 step formula to achieve anything
you want! It works 100% of the time – unlike
those resolutions many of us make this time of
year. Are you ready?
Step 1 –
Decide What You Want
The first step
is quite simple, but it’s often overlooked and
without it, the rest doesn’t really matter. You
must make a 100% committed decision about what
you intend to do, have or become.
Perhaps you made one of the top New Year’s
resolutions like millions of others – to lose
weight.
The problem with
that goal, and one of the main reasons most
people don’t achieve this goal, is that the
focus is on what you don’t want (weight). I
won’t expand more on that now, as it’s a whole
separate article. But the key point to remember
is to always focus on what you want to
experience instead of what you want to
avoid. So a better intention would be to weigh
135 pounds, which is clear and concise.
Take a few
minutes now and decide what you truly want to
experience this year in your life and business.
Now make an absolutely committed decision to
make it happen, no matter what you have to do.
Forget any
negative head talk you may have at this point.
Just make the choice to go after it with all
your resources. And if you don’t know how
you’re going to make it happen, that’s perfect.
Anytime you decide to do something you’ve never
done before, you more than likely won’t know
how. But not knowing is not an excuse for not
trying.
Step 2 -
Identify Potential Obstacles
Again, often
overlooked is the practice of identifying
potential challenges and obstacles that may get
in your way. Many people don’t want to focus on
obstacles, but it’s important if you’re going to
avoid possible pitfalls and get your goals
quicker and easier.
Now, there’s a
difference between dwelling over your obstacles,
and simply identifying them so you can create a
better action plan. Remember, also, to take a
look at any obstacles that other people have
faced who’ve traveled the path you’re on.
Learning from others’ mistakes is true wisdom.
Step 3 -
Erase The Obstacles
Sometimes we
can’t get rid of the obstacles completely, but
we can identify ways to work around them.
Whatever the obstacle is, there are ways to go
over, around or through it.
Instead of using
your challenges as a reason why you can’t do,
have or become what you want, simply ask
yourself better questions. By asking yourself,
“How can I…?”, you’ll be feeding
your unconscious mind a solvable problem. And
since your mind is wired to solve problems,
you’ll soon have several possible solutions to
choose from.
One very
important concept to be aware of is that most
times, we can’t solve a problem with the same
mind that created the problem in the first place.
Since it’s our own habits, beliefs and behavior
that caused the mess we have now, we always will
do better with a qualified mentor or coach
helping us. The right coach can help you
destroy all your obstacles.
Make sure also
that you’re not trying to understand your
obstacles. The only reason you’d try to
understand them is if you plan on having them
again. ;-)
Step 4 –
Create the Right Action Plan!
Once you’ve
figured out the best ways to remove your
obstacles – and maybe even while you’re still
figuring it out – it’s time to design a map to
follow. By doing the necessary research and
networking, you’ll be able to find a recipe
that’s virtually guaranteed to lead to
what you want to experience.
What’s
imperative, though, is that your game plan has
your name on it, meaning it’s NOT a
one-size-fits-all approach. My experience is
that cookie cutter approaches only work well for
the person who the cookie cutter was created
for. Your personalized game plan will be a
recipe that takes into account all of your
attributes – beliefs, likes, dislikes, and
environments.
Step 5 - Test
and Tweak
Get in motion!
One of my coaches always says, “You don’t
have to get it right, you just have to get it
going.” Live by that. Don’t worry so much
about the results. After all, results are
only feedback. They don’t mean anything
about you as a person. They’re just feedback.
And if the
feedback you receive is not what you want,
change the recipe. Try whatever you need to try
until you get the feedback you’re looking for.
The people who use this “test and tweak”
strategy, without a bunch of negative emotion
attached, will get what they want MUCH FASTER
than those who are stuck in the ‘getting ready’
phase.
Remember, too,
that we live in a microwave mentality world – we
often want results right away. But any goal
really worth having is not likely going to
happen overnight. Allow your success to take as
long as it needs to take. You’re worth it!
